MakerSketch reference
MakerSketch is an iPad app for learning CAD by making useful objects: start with a guided project, understand its shape, then make a version of your own.
Start with the move you want to make
- Extrude and cut: turn a closed sketch into a solid, or cut into a Body.
- Loft: join sketch sections into a changing shape.
- Make fitted storage: bins, bases and mounting parts you can edit.
- Design parts that move after printing: joints, clearances and checks.
- Choose an export format: STL and 3MF for printing; exact or faceted STEP for other CAD apps.
Find a feature or a command
The illustrated tool pages explain the steps, options and common problems. For the full list, use Part features, sketch tools and components. These reference tables are generated from the app.

A few useful words
- A part is a MakerSketch document ("Part 1"). It holds sketches and the features made from them.
- A sketch is 2D geometry on a plane inside a part ("Sketch 1" on Top).
- A feature is one step in the part's History: an Extrude, a Shell, some Holes.
- A drawing is a plain 2D DXF opened from Files.
